Anthony Evans

Recently I was in my apartment listening to Byron Cage's Radio Station and a great melody of "Lord I give you my heart" and "How great is our God," came on and I had to stop what I was doing and see who this unfamiliar voice was, and after I got the name, I started Google-ing it like a maniac. And shortly I became a "overnight fan" of Mr. Anthony Evans.

He is a Dallas Native, with an Alternative Christian/Gospel feel. He has been endorsed by many Gospel greats, most noteable producer/singer Kirk Franklin. And he is being endorsed for good cause, because his voice is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Actually I have have had his song "The Way you Love Me" on repeat for the past hour. He is truly anointed and I hope God continues ministering through him.

And for the record Im about to buy his CD's The Bridge and Undisguised, because I have to support GOOD music!

I am currently sitting in Panera Bread in Gaithersburg. I have just finished my Chicken Caesar Salad and Cheddar Broccoli Soup and I am now sipping on some Sweet Tea. And I randomly thought about how much I love where I'm from =)

1. Super Nicee people! From the 80 year old white lady to the 15 year old Spanish boy...everyone here is so nice!
2. Anywhere you go around here, the service you receive is AWESOME! They are polite, fast, and friendly
3. Neal's Bagels!
4. The Rio and Downtown Silver Spring brings joy to my life
5. The school system is the best! Check our statistics!!!!
6. You can go to a majority white school but Prom King and Queen will probably be black!
7. Good location......DC is like down the street and Baltimore is an hr away
8. You become culturally educated......i swear there is like everyyyy ethnicity here
9. All the pretty little parks, makes spring and summer just wonderful!
10. Perfect place to raise children

A few weeks ago my teacher asked us in our group dynamics class, Do you really need anyone in your life? And I, without hesistation said yes, and I began to name off all the people who I "thought" I needed. But this week I have come to the conclusion I dont need any other people besides my family. Half the people that come through your life truly come and go. Prime example the best friends you had in middle school are more than likely not the same people your still BFFs with right now, RIGHT?!?! EXACTLY! Now dont take my words the wrong way, its great to have friends but dont begin to be dependent upon them and thinking you would be crushed without them.
One of my dear friends Simone told me earlier this week, "your born alone you die alone," and that is very true, so I have no use to be stressing about a friendships that will more than likely not last forever.
I also realized all the accomplishments I made in my life, none of my friends can take any credit for them, only MYSELF! Being a full time college student in the top 15% of my class, and being a part time worker who is still actively involved in school organizations, was all Janee Thames doing, and if your not helping me excel in any of those areas....what is your purpose?
I have some of the most awesome friends in my life and I do appreciate them, but TRUST if we were no longer to be friends, I will not be depressed! And also as a PSA, this is not directed towards anyone because I truly dont have harsh feelings towards anyone in my life, past or present, cause hatred is an evil spirit that takes up to much energy to entertain.
This has just been something pressing on my heart that I needed to express.

Epic Fail

Dear John Mayer,

I went on facebook last week,and I saw alot of my African American female friends writing alot of bitter statuses about you. So I quickly googled it up! And low and behold you made some quite "Interesting" comments. And two that I found questionable was your comparison of your genitalia to a white supremacist, and your use of the "N-word." Now John, because I love you so much I had to look into what you exactly said and the context in which you said it. And in a nutshell you stated, that black women do not approach you and you believes that is due to your penis' white supremacist characteristics. You also state that you dont have a "Hood Pass" because a hood pass is equivalent to a "Nigger Pass." Ughhhhhh! John I was supporting you till the N-word slipped out. Honestly I completely understand and agree with that comment, because you even state yourself a "Nigger Pass" comes with the struggle of being African American, and you nor any white person has gone through that. But you DID NOT have to say "Nigger", you should have just censored your statement and said "N-word."

Do I think your racist? NO! Because you have worked with some of the greatest African Americans in the industry. And you even performed at the great musician in the world, the late Micheal Jackson funeral, and I don't think you could do all that if you were racist. And it takes a very sick and evil person to be racist, and I don't see that in you. Do I think your a freakin idiot for saying the N-word? Heck Yes! And I am dissappointed in your choice of words in that interview? Obviously! But am I going to stop listening to your music? More than likely not...

PS: You have lost alot of black females fans, and the only way to fix that is if you do a collaboration with Trey Songz, the person black woman love the most! So please do that quickly before your fans disappear. KK!

Is it me....?

In the past 24 hours I have had two conversations with two friends that stated that our friendship has drifted away. And the thing is with neither do I have harsh feelings against, but they feel like Im not the friend I use to be. Which actually bothers me because I am not one to start acting differently towards friends. So I start to think to myself, Is it true? Am I not treating some of my friends right?

Well you see, I hate texting because I usually forget to text back, and I dont like phone convos. Which then leaves me with only talking to people who are constantly around me. And to add to that I am extremely busy, I have a job, school, SGA, honor societies, and a strong 6 hours of sleep to get, and alot of times those things block me from continuing a stable friendship with people.

So is it my fault for being preoccupied all the time?

I hope not...

I really just want to keep the "Real" Friends around me close, and start eliminating my fake friends, cause they could easily be replaced with genuine ones. I dont have alot of time to spend with friends, but I am truly going to make a huge effort to work on the relationships with the friends that I hold dear to my heart!

Don't know how to act!

Finally got my computer webcam to work, to take regular pics! So I kind of went "Ham" lol

40 days...complete!

I woke up this morning and I saw my roommate eating a poptart and I said, "I can eat that now!" Then she said, "you probably wount!" And she was completely right, I have absolutely no desire to eat any unhealthy things now. Which is kind of crazy cause I thought I was truly in love with food! But God is sooooo Good that he has taken away that desire from me!
These 40 days of fasting has been a life changer and definitely one of the best things I have ever done with my life! Spending the last 40 days simply forcing myself to focus and rely on God for the strength, provision, and wisdom, has truly made a better person!
Cause honestly alot of horrible things have happened to me, in the past 40 days, and without having a good connection with God, I would have honestly had a mental break down! BUT GOD!

I thank God for these 40 days! And the blessings that have come from it!

I have no clue how much weight i have lost but i am feeling so good. My energy is wayyy up and my zeal right now is indescribable! And my tummy is looking better day by day =)

Snowed In!

Honestly I have had the best weekend in the World! I spent it snowed-in my apartment with some of the coolest people in the world with mucho food, music, board games, and alot more fun stuff =) Sleepover for 3 days straight, so of course it was fun!!
MEMORIES are wayyyy to crazyyy! Yall lucky there was no pictures taken, we wasnt trying to have any evidence, of the things we were doing lol =)

&& eventhough someone slammed into my car and messed up my rear, my eventful weekend made up for it all!

Also I dont know if its me, but doesnt it seem to you like Bmore can not handle snow. I drove downtown earlier with my best friend, and we didnt drive on any roads that was snow free. Granted this is the most snow I have seen since I was 8. But that doesnt give the city the OK, not to have main roads like Cold Spring, North Ave, Saratoga etc not cleared out, especcially when they have had 3 days. SMH

But the only good thing is that I havent had school since Thursday, and they cancelled school today and tomorrow, but the bad thing about that is the teachers will be cramming soooo much info into our head to catch up.



&& they are expecting 10-20 inches of snow tomorrow to Wednesday....ie there will probably not be school till MAYBE Friday

So I will definitely be taking this time to get caught up with my school work and readings!

I made formspring like a month ago, and I never went back on it because I kinda thought it was silly, but this morning I got woken up by an email, stating that i had numerous formspring messages that I needed to respond to. And then I see them, and boyyyyy were these people hating, actually I think its just one person who wrote all the questions who just happens to be an Ultra-HATER and clearlyyy doesnt know me.
For some reason it wount let me respond to them on formspring, so i will just write the question on here and just respond.

I am VERY much an indivual, cause I bet you havent met another person like me! And the only person I rely on is Jesus, why would I need other people to be myself?

Your clearly a person who doesnt know me, i am VERY far from hood....i drink tea 2 times a day, i listen to gospel music ever morning, i adore musical theatre and im from freakin Montgomery County....please tell me how i am hood cause i have never wanted to nor attempted to be hood! 3. Why do u always say "i love you" to people that u like just meet!?
Cause I love people...duhh! My family and close friends know that when i tell other people i love them that its on a totally different level than when i tell them.....are you just bitter cause i dont tell you I love you!

4. You still havent answered my question about why u are such a people pleaser...?
You IDIOT! you never asked me about being a people pleaser. And yes, I do try to please other people by generous acts and nice jesters, but i dont change my personality to please people, cause i am going to be ME regardles!

5. Are you happy with the person you are?
To be honest.....I am soo happy with the person I am! I wake up every morning happy and blessed to be Janee Thames. Are you Happy with the person you are?

The snow outside is CRAZYYY! It was literally a blizzard last night, and I woke up this morning its still coming down!
So of course there was no church today, but instead of showing an old sermon on our church website, my pastor instead did a live Ustream from his house, and it was a wonderful message.

Does it seem like sometimes your mother gives you a life lesson without even asking for it, or without really trying to give a lesson...?
Well my mother did that recently..
It was the night of the Grammys and she calls me saying, "Did you see Maxwell's performance or Beyonce almost falling?" I laughed and said yes Mom and then we talked about the Grammys for about 40 mins. Then I asked her why she was watching the Grammys when she was suppose to be at work. She proceeds to tell me how she went to go check on a patient who was in the hospital on a sucide watch. She said she sat and talked to him and watched the Grammys for about 2 hours. She said he was so tired of the other nurses that came in to check on him, because they made him feel like he was crazy and was judging him every time they came in. He told my mother she was the first nurse to just come in, sit and listen. My mother then told me, "Janee, sometimes people just need someone to listen to, without any judging or opinions."

See... my mother had no idea how much just saying that impacted my life, because sometimes I find myself expressing my feelings about stuff to my friends when really thats not what they need at the time, because most times, friends just need someone to listen to. Because they have everyone else already judging them, adding someone else who they call a friend will just make them feel worse. Im not saying your not suppose to tell your friends the truth, but there is a time and place for everything, but when your friend is clearly hurt, making the situation worse is not going to make them feel better! There are alternative ways to get through to a friend, but trying to hit them when they are already down is no good!
Just a thought =)

I really dont want to preach, I promise, but I am tired of people doing all this awesome things, or God taking them out a horrible place in their lives and they dont take time to thank God.
The Bible tells of the story of the 10 leapers. This story occurred when Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. Ten lepers came to Jesus and He told them to go and show themselves to the Temple priests who, according to back then customs, used to verify the healing of lepers. On the way to the priests they were miraculously healed. But the sad thing is, after Jesus healed all ten of them, only one....JUST ONE...came back to say Thank you.
God has blessed some people with talents beyond belief, and they dont thank God. Better yet God has taken people out of deathly situations and dieases and you still dont thank Him.
Come on now...you got to give honor where honor is due!

Just so you all know I am an aspiring lawyer so naturally I love law shows. And excitingly ABC has a new show called Deep End, portraying the life of first year attorneys. And in the cast is the SEXY Mehcad Brooks



I have always seen Mr.Brooks in shows like Desperate Housewives and The Game...but seeing him play a lawyer literally makes me melt! He is truly AMAZING... he is driven, funny, clever, and supremely competent!
He is offically one of my top 5 fav actors, and top 5 sexiest too! =)

Blue-Eyed Soul!

I am a hugeeeee Blue Eyed Soul fan! And if you dont know what that is, its a White artists who sings Soul/R&B. I have always enjoyed Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, but its something about these white girl who are just singing there butts off effortlessly that brings me sooo much joy. My favs include Lily Allen, Joss Stone, Adele, Duffy, Natasha Bedingfield, and Amy Winehouse (minus the drugs), these ladies are just AMAZING and you can tell this is really their passion. And what makes me even happier is that their not talking about all the EXTRA stuff, they just have that good pleasing music =)

I have been soooo busy with work, that i haven't been able to update my blog like i am suppose to....my apologies

Recap:

Im on a FAST!!: I have been on a fast for the past 27 days, and it has been such a struggle! Even at this very moment i am craving a 5 guys burger with fries, butttttt instead im eating grapefruit. Its been hard but this has truly drawn me closer to God and i have learned how dependent i am on food. Ohhhh and another plus is, I'm losing alot of weight =)

Back to the books: Class started Monday and i honestly think this is going to be an awesomeeeee semester [4.0!!]. Ok the Run-down...Sociology, my teacher is kinda lame and has a crazy accent, but i will deal with it. Health class is going to be an easy A, and my teacher has some really fun stuff for my class to do this semester. Then Philosphy i have with my love Sara, and my teacher is such a freakin hippie, but i think i am going to like the class cause she says we don't have any midterm or final FTW! Humanities, my teacher is a funny little African man, and i am actually learning some really interesting stuff in his class so far, and he gets mucho points cause our first homework assignment was to read the first 11 chapters of Genesis! Black Families is going to be a great class even though its at 9am...but this topic is really what i want to learn about because i want to be a Family Lawyer, so im exciteddd! And my final class which is my FAVORITE is Group Dynamics, i honestly feel like this class is going to change my life...everything about this class makes me happy...our discussions,our seating arangements, our classroom energy and my teachers teaching methods. Its a 3hour class and i love every minute of it! Ok thats it for classes
